Song of the day: Freightened Eyes

Hi kids,

Sorry for the late entry today – things were busy this morning.

So I assume you should all know Beach House by now. You will remember me praising and giving several songs from their Teen Dream album as well as giving you the remix they did with Toro Y Moi (Master of None).
Not to mention the release of the first single Myth from their highly anticipated new album Bloom.

Now I am happy to inform you that the full album has been released – and I was a bit selfish and wanted to digest it first before giving it out.  The internet’s take on it is that it is being raved about just as much (if not even more) than Teen Dream (except for the intensely love-to-be-different/difficult NME that although have a positive write up decide to score it 7/10).

Again I will repeat myself that after already seeing this band preform live twice I would happily go out of my way to watch them a third time. They are, especially Victoria, nothing short of mesmerizing– and I would love to hear these new sounds live.

This new sound is more lush and intense with a greater use of synth, loads of great guitar and of course some amazing percussion that we love them for. But really the apple is not falling far from the same impressive tree. It’s the same patient and five elements hippy yet deep and luminous sound. And that is not surprising after Scally’s comment of “I hate it when bands change between records, that’s not the way we work.” Clearly not.

So here is my favourite The Hours

Enjoy

I wish I could make a soundtrack to my life and breathe in the notes every day
