Hello kids,
I know its Monday and it’s raining and you are feeling a little gloomy. But no worries, here is the silver lining: this Friday we have another THE LIBERATION night. Thanks for all the positive feedback, so we took it and hurried up and organized another event. So come for a dance and bring your friends.
There’s no such thing as too much of a good thing.
Talking of good things. Today’s song of the day is called Something Good.
It comes from Alt-J. Now at first I had mixed feelings about this band. I liked them but the songs never quite won me over. But I must say this song did it, and now I adore the whole album.
They are also an important band at the moment as they are the favourites for the Mercury (Music) Prize this year. This is a pretty important prize – its awarded to best album from the UK every year. And unlike most music awards that I have issues with (you may remember my rant on the Grammys) they tend to be pretty spot on. For example The XX won the prize two years ago with their debut album. Other winners have been Elbow, Klaxons, Arctic Monkeys, Badly Drawn Boy, PJ Harvey, all bands I respect.
The other nominees are not bad either so it will be quite a fight:
Alt-J – An Awesome Wave
Ben Howard – Every Kingdom
Django Django – Django Django
Field Music – Plumb
Richard Hawley – Standing at the Sky’s Edge
Michael Kiwanuka – Home Again
Lianne La Havas – Is Your Love Big Enough?
Sam Lee – Ground of its Own
The Maccabees – Given to the Wild
Plan B – ill Manors
Roller Trio – Roller Trio
Jessie Ware – Devotion
Some I love, some I don’t know, some I don’t agree with, but overall I generally respect this award.
So have a lovely listen to song and tell me what you think:

I wish I could make a soundtrack to my life and breathe in the notes every day
