I need to admit that I still have adrenaline bumps in my body after the great concert of the Smashing Pumpkins yesterday on La Grande Scene @Paleo Festival in Nyon, therefore I couldn’t miss sharing one of the best moments from their set yesterday: Bullet with Butterfly Wings.
The song is extracted from their master-piece double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and was the lead single of the album back in 1995, in our humble opinion it features some of the best lyrics from Mr. Corgan ever!
The world is a vampire, sent to drain
Secret destroyers, hold you up to the flames
And what do I get, for my pain?
Betrayed desires, and a piece of the game
Even though I know – I suppose I’ll show
All my cool and cold – like old job
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage
Then someone will say what is lost can never be saved
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage
Hey Hey, My My, grungy Thursday everybody!
