Paléo Festival Nyon unveiled the line up of its 43rd edition on Tuesday 20th of March 2018, one month earlier than usual for the happiness of the festival goers. The festival line up suits once more all tastes, featuring big and well-known names like Depeche Mode and Lenny Kravitz and working as a trampoline for new acts.
All styles of music are presents, from reggae to world’s music, passing through hip hop which is given an important place in this year’s edition namely with the presence of Suprême NTM, Nekfeu and Orelsan. The electronic scene is also well represented with techno star Nina Kraviz. Since the festival is based in French speaking Switzerland an importance is given to French speaking artists. Festival organiser Daniel Rossellat, points out that 83.9% of the artists are playing Paléo for the first time, which is an exceptional rate!
For us rock lovers the line-up is very tasty, particularly on Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18 and Friday 20th July 2018. Tuesday’s headliners English new-wave band Depeche Mode and Icelandic group Kaleo who had to cancel their gig last year. The Wednesday is headlined but none other then The Killers, coming to Paléo for the very first time. The line up of the day is rendered even greater by the presence of MGMT’s psychedelic rock as well as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s heavy riffs. But don’t forget to look out for new talents like Idles and Lysistrata. On Friday July 20th Lenny Kravitz plays the Grande Scène along with Denver rock n’ rollers Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats.
The theme of the Village du Monde is perhaps less exotic than usual taking us to the South of Europe (Italy, Portugal, Spain, France and Greece) but the music spaces from fado to Italian tarantella bringing together different influences and backgrounds. Without forgetting the delicious Mediterranean food … and wine.
